Uncontested Divorce in St. Augustine St. Johns county

St. Augustine Uncontested Divorce Help

An uncontested divorce is an excellent option if both parties agree on how to resolve all issues in a divorce. An “uncontested divorce” is defined as an agreement between the parties on all issues in the case prior to filing a petition for dissolution of marriage. The most common issues in a divorce are time-sharing and child support (if you have children), alimony, and equitable distribution of assets and liabilities. The advantages of uncontested divorce are predictability of fees and costs, saving time in the court process, and the minimization of the emotional drama associated with the divorce process.

Attorney Christopher (“Chris”) Taylor is a strong proponent of the uncontested divorce process. It minimizes the impact of divorce on families and builds a strong foundation for co-parenting for parties with children. Even in cases of uncontested divorce it is still a stressful process, and Chris has some helpful tips on how to stay healthy through the process.

The uncontested flat rate includes preparation of all forms, consultation and legal advice regarding your case, and a Court appearance at the final hearing.

The Taylor Law Office charges the following flat fees for uncontested divorces:

No Children

$1850.00* plus costs (St. Johns County filing fee is currently $408.00).

Costs may include but are not limited to filing fees, the preparation of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (“QDRO”) by a QDRO specialist, post judgment property transfers such as real estate deeds, and postage.

With Children

$2100.00* plus costs.

* The Taylor Law Office offers special pricing for clients with annual incomes lower than $50,000.00 per year.

*The flat rate may also be higher for high net worth clients or clients with complex marital estates. Call Chris to discuss if either situation may apply to you.

Why hire The Taylor Law Office to handle your Uncontested Divorce?

The Florida Supreme Court offers free forms online to complete the divorce process, but the Court does not provide legal advice on how to properly use the forms. Divorce law is a complex area of practice. An attorney can save you both time and money by guiding you through the Court procedures and ensuring the proper paperwork and pleadings are filed in your case.

The Disadvantages of Uncontested Divorce

Uncontested divorces are not right for every situation. If you have questions about the extent of the other parties’ assets or the other party is making unreasonable demands, it is often better to proceed with a contested divorce. Before you make a decision about whether to proceed with an uncontested divorce, it’s best to consult with an attorney.
